Nov 20-23, 2008. We are going in to our 7th year of the SF BAY AREA SALSA CONGRESS and starting registration early this year so that we can offer our students, dancers, and friends the special deal of $199 for FULL CONGRESS and HOTEL! I will send out an email announcing when the site goes live and you can all take advantage of this amazing deal. As usual, we are providing you with amazing dance talent but check out our live music line up.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?
Starting FEBRUARY 15, 2008!
It's time for PB&G's Annual Multi-Dance Contest in the Bay Area!  Open to everyone, all levels!
 
The Rules
  • The format is Jack & Jill, and each person participating must demonstrate a knowledge of the following dances:  Merengue, Cha Cha, Bachata and of course, SALSA!  All dances will be judged equally and each couple will dance to 45 seconds of each style of dance, both in a group and just with their partner. 
  • 3 couples will be selected each night.  If any person does not qualify, they can compete as many times until they do.
  • 4 weeks of Qualifying, all at a HOT SALSA FRIDAY:
    • Feb 15
    • Feb 29 ( Extra Hot Salsa Friday)
    • March 7
    • March 21
    • FINALS:  APRIL 4
  • You do not need to prepare any routine and you do not need a dance partner to participate.  In the Jack & Jill Style of contest, you are to showcase your talent and knowledge of each dance with ANY partner you may select.  Each night of competition, each follower will draw their partner for that night from a list of names, and that will be their partner for that night's contest.  THIS WILL NOT BE YOUR PARTNER FOR THE FINALS.
  • Each couple selects by lotto their music for their Dance Demonstration.  DJ music pre-selected by DJ Fab Fred.
  • Each person will be judged both solely and as a couple.
  • You are being judged on Natural Rhythm, Partnering Technique, Capturing the Essence of each Dance, Presentation & Style. 
  • This is an OPEN LEVEL.  Amateurs may compete alongside of Professionals. 
  • $1000 cash plus trophies and prizes.
  • All participants must pay the HSF entrance fee of $12 to compete.

DANCE COMPETITION RULES
 CATEGORIES:  
AMATEUR,  PROFESSIONALS ‘ON1”,  PROFESSIONALS “ON 2”, 
 
PRIZES:  
Over $6000 in Cash and Prizes.   Winners of each category, will be sent to LAS VEGAS for the World Championships in December
 
PRELIMINARY ROUNDS:  Each couple competing in the Amateur, Pro on1 or Pro on 2 categories must qualify at one of the following dates:
 
September 15 at Hot Salsa Friday
September 29 at EXTRA Hot Salsa Friday
October 6 at Hot Salsa Friday
October 20 at Hot Salsa Friday

*  Couples will be judged by local panel of invited Judges. 
*  2 couples will be selected each week to advance into the semifinals on November 3rd. 
*  Total of 8 couples per category will be sent to the Semi-Finals.
* Couples may enter as many times as they want until they qualify but No Change Of Partners Can Occur once you have qualified into the Semi-Finals Round.
*   All couples will be introduced and dance on the floor together for a warm up, 1.5 minutes to music at DJ’s choice.
*  Each couple will then perform alone and perform to DJ’s selection of music, 2 minutes.
*  Performance Order Of Competitors Will Be Determined Each Night by Lotto.
*  All Competitors need to be registered by 10:30pm the night they are competing.
*  All dancers need to be present to draw a number.  If you or your partner are not present you will be disqualified.
 

SEMI-FINALS:   November 3 at Hot Salsa Friday.
Couples will be judged by local panel of invited Judges.  
*  3 couples per category will be sent to the Finals, September 19, 2005 at the SF Bay Area Salsa Congress
*   All couples will be introduced and dance on the floor together for a warm up, 1.5 minutes to music at DJ’s choice.
*  Couples will then perform solo their choreographed routine to music of their choice, not to exceed 2 minutes.  Your music will be stopped if it goes over the 2 minute mark.
*  Performance Order Of Competitors Will Be Determined Each Night by Lotto.
*  All Competitors need to be registered by 9:30pm on the night of the SEMIFINALS..
*  All dancers need to be present to draw a number.  If you or your partner are not present you will be disqualified.
 

OUT OF STATE/INTERNATIONAL COUPLES:
These couples can choose to enter the preliminary rounds with the above dates at Hot Salsa Friday. 
OR
They can compete at 5pm on Sunday November 19 at the Preliminary round at the SF Bay Area Salsa Congress. 
 
PRELIMINARY ROUND -  Sunday 5pm, November 19, 2006
*  Out of state/International Couples will be judged by International panel of invited Judges. 
*   Per respective category, All couples will be introduced and dance on the floor together for a warm up, 1.5 minutes to music at DJ’s choice.
*  Couples will then perform solo their choreographed routine to music of their choice, not to exceed 2 minutes.  Your music will be stopped if it goes over the 2 minute mark.
* 3 couples per category will be selected to compete in the evening against the already qualified couples from the Hot Salsa Friday Competition.
*  Performance Order Of Competitors Will Be Determined by Lotto.
*  All Competitors need to be registered by 3pm on the afternoon of the Preliminary Rounds, September 20, 2006.
*  All dancers need to be present to draw a number.  If you or your partner are not present you will be disqualified.
 
DANCE COMPETITION FINALS
8:30PM-  AMATEUR FINALS & CABARET DIVISION
11PM -PROFESSIONAL SALSA “ON 1” & PROFESSIONAL MAMBO ‘ON 2”
 
Rules will remain the same for each above category:
*  ALL Couples will be judged by International panel of invited Judges. 
*   Per respective category, All couples will be introduced and dance on the floor together for a warm up, 1.5 minutes to music at DJ’s choice.
*  Couples will then perform solo their choreographed routine to music of their choice, not to exceed 2 minutes.  Your music will be stopped if it goes over the 2 minute mark.
*  Performance Order Of Competitors Will Be Determined by Lotto.
*  All dancers need to be present to draw a number.  If you or your partner are not present you will be disqualified.
* each couple must be backstage 45 minutes prior to Show Time. Example: 8:30pm showtime, backstage by 7:45pm, dressed in costume ready to go.  NO exceptions
 
 
To those Wishing to Compete in the Team Competition and the Cabaret Division at the SF BAY AREA SALSA CONGRESS DANCE COMPETITION:
We will be holding the Team competition and the Cabaret competition at CONGRESS ONLY.  We will not have any qualifying rounds at Hot Salsa Friday.  All qualifying rounds will be done Sunday at 5pm, all categories. 
 
Evening Finals Schedule is as follows:
8:30pm  Amateurs and Team Category
11pm Pros on 1, Pros on 2, Cabaret
 
Rules specifically for the Team competition and the Cabaret competition:
*  MAX TIME ALLOWED: 2 minutes.  Your routine will be turned off at the 2 minute mark.  This applies to both couples and Teams.
*  Teams must have a Minimum of 3 couples in Team category, and a maximum 10 couples.
*  Registration to the SF Bay Area Dance Competition will be free to those with a PAID FULL CONGRESS PASS.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PAID FULL CONGRESS PASS, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A REGISTRATION FEE OF $75-the equivalent of a Full Congress pass.
*  Those competing in the Team Category and Cabaret Division will register at Congress.
 
 
**Open level JACK & JILL and MASTERS JACK & JILL!** on Sunday afternoon, NOVEMBER 19, 2006!

All levels can compete in this fun afternoon of salsa!  It is a no holds barred JACK & JILL where you pick your partner on the spot and compete!

Here come the professionals!  Vote for you favorite Instructor or performer as they show off their stuff leading or following someone new!  Ever seen the stars compete?  They will this afternoon!

 


::. Audition for PB&G Ladies Performance Team.::
 
AUDITIONS on SUNDAY JUNE 25TH, for what is sure to be one of the hottest dance teams to grace the Bay Area...PB&G's Ladies Performance Team.

All levels are encouraged to try out. Please know this is a four month commitment.
Practices will be twice weekly at Dance Spectrum, and dues will be paid monthly.
All other questions will be answered at the auditions.

WHEN: Sunday June 25, 2006
WHERE: Dance Spectrum 1707d South Bascom Ave. Campbell, CA 95008
TIME: 1:30 pm registration / 2 pm start time.
Please dress appropriately in workout attire and arrive on time.

PART 1: When you arrive, please check in and receive your number.
PART 2: No need to have a routine prepared. We will begin with a warmup and stretching session, then go into learning a choreographed Footwork Combination.
Part 3: Footwork Combination. Here you will demonstrate your ability to learn and perform at a quick pace. We are also looking for technique in solo work and highly developed extensions. If selected, you will advance to Part 4.
PART 4: Interviews with Michelle & PB&G.

PB&G Productions, Current World Salsa Dance Champions, and Directors of the SFBAY AREA SALSA CONGRESS,   is adding 3 girls to their Professional Dance Company.
WHEN:  Sunday June 11, 2006 
WHERE:  Dance Spectrum 1707d South Bascom Ave. Campbell, CA 95008
TIME:  1:00pm registration  / 1:30 pm start time.
Please dress appropriately in workout attire and arrive on time. 
 
No need to have a routine prepared. 
Part I:  Footwork Combination. Here you will demonstrate your ability to learn and perform at a quick pace.  We are also looking for technique in solo work and highly developed extensions.   If selected, you will advance to Part II.
Part II: Partnerwork combination.  Must be highly adaptable to styles and patterns, able to apply spin technique. 
We are looking for dancers in excellent physical condition trained in any or all of the following: jazz, ballet, tap, gymnastics, with experience in Ballroom or Salsa.  Must be able to travel out of the country.

Hi Everyone,
Instead of our annual Amateur Dance Competition that we do in Spring, we are initiating the 1st Multi Dance Contest in the Bay Area!  Open to everyone!
 
The Rules
